2学期 

Students discover 科学 as inquiry as they investigate the nature of life on both the molecular and environmental levels. 例如生物多样性, the effect of human activity on the biosphere, 细胞结构与功能, 光合作用, 细胞呼吸, 遗传学, 进化, 植物, and the human body are discussed in a way to enhance critical thinking skills and to provide associative skills for personal and social perspectives that may influence future decision making. Power Point presentations and other apps are used in classroom lectures. The students will learn the skills necessary to write lab reports.

Honors Biology is a course that will expand upon the topics covered in General Biology class. Students will explore how living things are constructed on a molecular level. They will explore the processes of 光合作用, 细胞呼吸, and the cellular activities that drive the cell cycle, as well as make comparative anatomy studies of human and other organisms. They will assimilate how traits are inherited and how organisms evolved over time. Students will gain an understanding of environmental processes, 人类活动对生态系统的影响,  interdependent relationships between organisms and their environments, and the correlation between 结构s and functions in major human body systems. 互动实验将包括解剖, 有机化学, 建模, 计算机模拟, 基因研究. This course prepares students for the SAT/ACT and is in compliance with the National 科学 Standards. Completion of Honors Biology is a stepping stone towards enrollment in AP Biology.

Chemistry offers fundamental knowledge about the world in which we live. Course工作 includes the study of 结构 of matter and the changes that matter can undergo. This course will also focus on the connection among observations, 实验数据, 概念理解. The course will stress the importance of descriptive and predictive abilities based on the understanding of concepts. Students will be expected to recognize patterns and make inferences from scientific data. Laboratory experiences are designed to support chemical concepts learned in class discussions. 学生将发展实验技能, 实践安全实验室程序, 完善实验报告的写作技巧. Technology will be used for molecular 建模, 类交流, 并支持课堂上学到的概念.   

Prerequisite: Successful completion of Biology and Algebra I.

The students investigate the 结构 and properties of substances and the reactions by which one substance is converted to another. The honors chemistry class is accelerated both in depth of detail and breadth of study. Students will develop laboratory techniques and refine writing for lab reports. Students must commit to daily review of class 工作.

Physics is the branch of 科学 that studies matter and 能源 and how they interact. The topics in this course focus on the study of motion, 部队, 能源, 波, 光, 和电. Physics is less about the problems and more about using equations, 法律, and theories to understand the world we live in. Fundamental concepts of physics will lead to investigations in the laboratory. Students will gain skills using laboratory apparatus and correct laboratory techniques and procedures to design and carry out long and short-term investigations using principles of the scientific method and use proper formats for reporting their findings.   

Prerequisites: Biology, Chemistry and Algebra I. 

2学期 

Students investigate the relationship between matter and 能源 and relate the fundamental 法律 that tie 科学s together including the modern theory of special relativity. 作为一个STEM主题班, students evaluate the scientific principles of everyday phenomena as they apply the mathematical 法律 of physics to such phenomena. Students support analysis of lab data with evidence from equations and graphs. 他们从概念中得出假设, 识别概念模式, and propose when and how to apply the concepts and 法律 they have learned in new situations. Honors Anatomy and Physiology is a full-year 科学 elective in which human anatomy and physiology are studied using a body systems approach, with an emphasis on the interrelationships between form and function as well as homeostasis. 实验室活动, 项目, 解剖, 粘土建模, 图, and clinical studies are provided to help students distinguish relationships between body systems both healthy and diseased. Comparative animal dissection is used to investigate similarities to human anatomical 结构s. This course is designed for students interested in the study of medical 科学 as well as those interested in the study of 结构 and function of the human body. Students will develop critical thinking skills through discussion and research of current technological advances, 案例研究, and the bioethics involved in some controversial topics.

2学期 

The level of sophistication that forensic 科学 has brought to criminal investigations is awesome. This lab course emphasizes scientific methodology while investigating the actual 科学 concepts and technology utilized in crime solving. Topics range from gathering physical evidence at the crime scene, 毒理学分析, 血, 和DNA, 对头发进行显微镜检查, 纤维, 和指纹. Labs are designed to solve crime scene scenarios.

Designed to bring content essential to support the basic themes and foundations of biology to the student. 多背内容, the value of learning comes from the ability to apply themes and patterns over many topics of biology. The AP Chemistry course is designed to be the equivalent of the general chemistry courses usually taken during the first college year (2学期 of both Chemistry & 实验，共8学分.)  AP Chemistry is built around 9 units of study which include: Atomic Structure & 性质、分子 & 离子化合物结构 & 性质，分子间作用力 & Properties, Chemical Reactions, Kinetics, Thermodynamics, Equilibrium, Acids & 热力学的基础和应用. Students further cultivate their understanding of chemistry through inquiry-based lab investigations as they explore scale, 比例, 数量, 结构 & properties of substances, transformations, and 能源. This course follows the Fall 2019 College Board redesign for Advanced Placement Chemistry.

The AP Environmental 科学 course is a project-based and interdisciplinary exploration of the field that is designed to promote a multifaceted approach to the subject at the college level. Students cultivate their understanding of the interrelationships of the natural world through inquiry-based lab investigations and field 工作 as they explore concepts like the four Big Ideas; 能源 transfer, 地球系统之间的相互作用, interactions between different species and the environment, 和可持续性.
